We started off with the votes, Kefli and Yazer are the ones at the bottom. No surprise there, really!

I always say this to my volleyball mates, two heads are better than one. And these 4 heads are just better than anything. They make backstreet boys pale in comparison (literally too). I just love M. Nasir's songs.

He looks weird. He looks like Edmund Hillary, Nevermind his looks, he was having fun. It was his all-out performance. Don't you realise that everytime one is about to go they give their best? I think everyone has guts and I'm sure as hell that Yazer's guts were tellin' him he's going out tonight. OOH! Did you realise this one part where he sang "this love is taking its toll on me" and at the same time he was holding his stomach as if to say "loving you makes me not want to eat" LOL.

As usual she looks pretty. That is undeniable. Powerful vocals. Cracky at first, but like Kudsia said, it's compensated by that powerful-as-the-ray-of-sun voice. Bit sad that she forgot her lyrics. I guess her stress went to the wrong channel. She shoulda given her best, and maybe that was her best. If so, she's a disappointment.

Finally I can say "who's that dashing man?" He looks good, then again, all men look good in tux. or any of that sort of clothing. Nice little gatheringee performance. I love that he sang both Malay and Tagalog version. That's awesome. Susah susah jak.

This guy is short of being vulgar to becoming one of the Southpark characters. He's so adorable. I could just adopt him and make him my lil baby brother. Anyways, I like the manly voice he made up. It's novel of him to sing that way. Not sure if it's the song or him, it was ... nice.

In all honesty, this, to me was her personal worst performance. I don't understand why Kudsia smiled that way and gave her that kudospeech. It was terrible (and I'm comparing this performance to her old ones, not to Jac's or any of the other AFies). I am so dang sure that she could do better than that. It was like... like... like... a balloon that's so big, you close your eyes when you are around it because you think it's gonna explode, but it NEVER explodes. I was just waiting for her to GIVE IT ALL but she never did and that was just disappointing. But I have to say, she's given the dolliest outfit of all and she looks pretty cute and everything. I love her voice, still. It just wasn't her all.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is better than Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Quoting bibiran, my bulu roma was on alert all the time man! Loved it, loved it, loved it.

Yazer and Kefli gets eliminated. Kefli, sure. Yazer? I don't think so. As much as I love all the finalists, I think I'd rather let Marsha go than Yazer. But nevermind.


The beginning was a bit off, but towards the end my bulu roma were on full alert again. I think AF3 has the most talented AFies in the whole history of AF. I miss Idayu so much! They are all so cool. :) This is the best kezutan ever.

They all deserve it. Including Mawi. NO, really. I think he's an all rounder person. He sings quite well. He's honest in his performances (more honest than Felix, at times). And he's just this guy who doesn't care too much of what other people think of him, he just lives his life. And he speaks his mind too... I guess people IDOLISE him because he is alim but cool. I think that's what the Malaysian society wants. They want an icon who is both cool and at the same time alim. That might not be truest to the Islamic teaching, but hey, who said humans were perfect?

Double elimination, double review! *hehe* Well you've read Shelley's tongue-in-cheek and rather facetiously thoughts, now its my turn. My review is in sequence of my ratings and coincidentally it is also the top four students that made it for the final concert next week. Anyways, the show started with the students intro, something different again. Them impersonating their colleagues pengenalan style is refreshing. Felix was funny doin it in Marsha style.

Critics - Kudsia. Suraya Al-Attas (journalist) & Vince (AF1 winner)..

Standings before the concert: Mawi 36%, Felix 23%, Marsha 13%, Amylea 13%, Yazer 8%, Kefli 6%.

Amylea - Nice hair and her dress is quite alright. More play on Mawi's walk *hehe* kesian dia. And as I expected and probably from many, Amylea has made Gemilang her on. Her own unique on style, Her vocals was rich and simply crisp. I bet it sounded excellent in the stadium. I'm jealous with you people having the oppotunity to be there. Kudsia said she is outstanding, her best performance yet. Suraya said she is simply fantastic and really comes alive on stage. Vince agreed with Kudsia & Suraya and when on on with his "semua pemenang tiada pengalah" trademark. 4.75/5.

Mawi - He said he wasnt really waiting for the song he is about to perform. Then his friends made an appearance, obviously to back him up with this nasyid song. Who says Mawi is not getting enough kezutan huh? Anyways, I think he has sealed the title of AF3 champion with tonights performance. Despite his low register notes sounding shaky, he covered it nicely all the high notes. I dont think I need to say more other than "Congratulations Mawi!". Kudsia said she likes his confidence. Suraya said despite his top spot, he still tries to better himself. Vince highlighted his low notes and said overall its a good peformance. 4.35/5.

Felix - Backed on the guitars by Yazer, Kefli & Sham Kamikaze.Mawi is the designated tamborine boy (kesian). Started off with a spanish-ish feel. Let me tell you this, on tv, the guitars seemed a lil bit too loud and that kinda drowned his vocals. I kinda expected the tagalog verse actually. Nice touch. The annoying bit was that Felix avoided eye contact with the cameras, I think that gave the song less intensity that it should have. Kudsia said their dads must be proud of their guitar talents. She liked his facial expression. Bersehaja but efficient. Suraya said it was a touching performance. Vince seemed speechelss but managed to say it was a good performance. 4.25/5.

Marsha - I think Marsha has the making to be a host! It will be a hit I gurantee you. Her fav host made an appearance. Aznil menyamal, that means merajuk in standard Malay. A really good kezutan for Marsha whih fans of certain students would cry foul. Escorted to the middle of the stage by farihin. And easy as being all giggly, marsha switched to serious mode. She sounded different tonight. Her voice sounds a bit nasal. Theres no "getek" looks, its a deep almost pissed-off stare. I think we've probably heard her highest note tonight. The backing dancers are just distracting. Kudsia said caught Marsha forgetting her lyrics. Suria - sensuous but must know how to control it. Vince - Voice projection has imporved and that he thinks its a powerful performance. Ok by this moment, that Farihin is getting annoying, get him off please! 4.15/5.

Yazer - His outfit is really dull. His shoes totally didnt go with his army surplus(?) top. He should be dressed more casually. His attitudefor this song is good but at times theres a bit a lil too much acting. On the normal verse very shaky but the chorus was his savior. I bet it sounded great live in the stadium. Kudsia said she sees a lot of energy but also said he was pitchy a bit. Suria said he was sexy and he made it look effortless. Vince credited him for his powerful voice and gave him props for Yazers performance of his song last week. 3.75/5.

Kefli - Cheap looking jacket and over accessorized. He looks like some geeky hip-hop wannabe. Dont those stylist ever learn? They are making fun of Mawi's walk, I'm sure not pleasing for some. He messed up his intro, completely destroyed it. And after that his vocals were all over the place. If it was my song I'd be pissed. The most terrible performance in any AF concert ever! Thank god for the backing rap by Yazer & Mawi! Messy lyrics, pitchy & out of tempo. Kudsia said he needs to improve if he wants people to vote for him, obviously she doesnt know what to say. Suraya said it was a good attempt but he has no hip-hop attitude (which is? Crotch grabbing?). Vince said its best to relax despite the tension of stepping into the final and he has to get some stamina. he said overall it was ok. 1.5/5.

Bonus song - Yazer, Mawi, Kefli & Felix. Tribute to M Nasir they called it. Not really smooth. Kefli forgetting his lyrics. Not convincing. Not in-sync. Vince is gonna be popular soon with the Mawi fans for his compliments. 3.75/5

Bonus song - Marsha & Amylea. A really touching performance. Yes I'm truly touched, complete with the watery eyes. They sounded like professionals. Like two divas they were so captivating. Simply the best bonus song performance ever by any AF students! And then when Farah made her appearance, I'm stunned. Speechless. Definately the 3 ladies I would wanna be with! *hehe* Kudsia - Oustanding, she has never seen such a beautiful duet. Suraya said Kudsia took the words out of her mouth. Vince said their chemistry is good! Ooerr! Ok clean thoughts you people! 4.85/5

Bonus song(?) - Eliminated students AF3. A rather touching and cynical song, Didnt We Almost Had It All. I wont say much but it was obvious who has the best vocal. Idayu really gave power to that song. I think she should get it the AFVOKAL title.

Before the results were announced, Aznil emphasized again about the final four. The students came out expressing their thoughts on tonights concert and on their whole AF experience. Despite a rather touching background music, it looks a bit fake and scripted. It was more like a call for more AFUNDI it seems. Sorry, I just couldnt feel the sentiments that they are trying to potray.

And so Yazer & Kefli made their exit despite the wishes of some that there wont be any elimination tonight. Yazer has done well to go this far and Kefli was merely just lucky. A little twist of irony, they are both roomates and have assigned the reading of their Surat Wasiat to eachother! Oh well, it was expected for them to leave and give way to the deserving four. In Imbasan, Suraya said it was obvious who the winner will be, see even a professional journalist cant deny that fact. And just after she said that, Aznil said for this whole week, the percentages/standings of the final four wont be displayed, as you can see on the right hand column of this page. It will only be announced in the final concert! This is not gonna go well with fans of Mawi who will surely think this is a tactic of Astro to manipulate the %. For others, this would also be seen as a way for Astro to squeeze more $$$ out of the fans. It might sound interesting and might give that suspenseful kick to it but I'm sure it'll be taken rather negatively.

Standings after the concert; Mawi 31%, Felix 22%, Amylea 15%, Marsha 13%, Yazer 11%, Kefli 8%.

The show closes with Yazer singing Ready For Love and Kefli with Berhenti Berharap. Another irony? Oh well, lets just leave concert 9 as it is, its time for the final! The moment we've been waiting for. Its a mixed emotion for me, as much as I'm excited, I'm also sad because AF3 is almost nearing its end. Its been a rocky ride and as usual very different than the previous AF.


Anyway, before I end this review, I'm gonna make a plea to all the fans of the eliminated students, PLEASE DIRECT YOUR VOTES TO MARSHA & AMYLEA. I think for once, it would be nice to see a woman win the title. I'm not saying Mawi & Felix is no good but its just obvious:
